Disney World’s Solar farm takes shape

Roughly twenty acres of Reedy Creek real estate has been transformed by 48,000 solar panels arranged to reveal, by air, a giant hidden Mickey. The 5-megawatt solar facility will generate the equivalent of approximately 1,000 residential solar rooftop systems and is scheduled to start providing power to Florida’s Walt Disney World this spring.

Despite its size, the solar farm falls short of the ‘Largest Hidden Mickey’ title. That honour has been held tightly for decades by The Mickey Mouse Forest, a 60 acre forest comprised of over 50,000 strategically positioned pine trees planted for the 20th anniversary of Disney World’s opening in 1992.
